Divine Pedagogy - Part 1

Καλημέρα, Δ.Α.! Ελπίζω ότι όλα είναι καλά. Karma. It's a word that is often used in conjunction with an adjective: Good Karma, Bad Karma... The Merriam Webster dictionary defines it as "the force generated by a person's actions held in Hinduism and Buddhism to perpetuate transmigration and in its ethical consequences to determine the nature of the person's next existence." Ouff! That's a mouthful! I think Wikipedia puts it better by saying that "it refers to the spiritual principle of cause and effect where intent and actions of an individual (cause) influence the future of that individual (effect)." You know I never believed in karma. I don't believe in a God that will reward/punish you based on the things you do or do not do. I do believe in a loving God that teaches you  when you're wrong, and that fills your heart with more love when you do good. I believe in what we call Divine Pedagogy . I can already hear you say: What is Div...

A Break from Social Media

Image
Καλησπέρα, Δ.Α.! This weekend I took the decision to disconnect from all social media for a time. In essence, it's a way to detox myself from what (arguably) takes up a good chunk of my time. And to be honest, I feel that lately these places have become a sort of escape gateway to avoid thinking about you. I know these  sucedáneos will never replace your place from my hear, and yet I'm still looking for you in places I know I will not find you. Nevertheless, sometimes radical measures need to be taken in order to move forward. Thus, this (temporary) auto-ban from social media. Oh! You know something I noticed today? It's funny, but every time I opened my phone or my browser, I kind of felt at a loss to decide what to do. I would find myself checking my phone and then realizing that I could not do much other than look at what time it was. Later I downloaded a book to read, but still! The feeling was shocking! I didn’t know where to go next, because my go-to web hangout —...

Σήμερα είναι η μέρα των φώτων: Χρόνια πολλά, Δ.Α., να τα εκατοστήσεις! Χρόνια πολλά! This year is a year that I will dedicate it to love. I want to be able to love as I have been loved. And to all of my friends that I've know, that I know, and that I will know, I just wanted to tell you that I love you. I'll always love you. My heart may be weak, and sometimes, it may even give in to the worries of everyday; however, deep down, there is a love that will never fade out. And I pray to God, that our Love lasts forever. Like the Magi, may we also journey and be attentive, untiring and courageous on the path to find the invisible God who was born among us. — Pope Francis (@Pontifex) January 6, 2017 Happy Feast of the Epifany, everyone! --- This last part is for you, Δ.Α.: [Softly now] Everyone knows you're my favorite girl, Here's to you having a Good Life! [Louder now] Promise me you'll have such a Beautifully happy and painlessly romantic Good Life...

Why Love requires Generosity

Γεια σου, Δ.Α.! Here's something to think about:

2017's Essentials

Γεια Δ! Ξέρεις, έχω ακόμα το βιβλίο σου. Out with the old, in with the new! At least that what people usually say when we want to start a new year. But sometimes is not easy to see what is essential and what is not. Not for nothing Antoine de Saint-Exupéry use to say What is essential, is invisible to the eyes.  I think Dr. Leo Buscaglia's guide to what is essential can set us on the right track: Right Knowledge.  That way, we will have the right tools to navigate this new year. Wisdom.  It can assure us that we are using the accumulated knowledge of the past in a manner that will best serve the discovery of our presence. Our now. Compassion.  It helps us to accept others whose ways may be different from ours, with gentleness and understanding, as we move with them in our own way. Harmony.  It helps us accept the natural flow of of life. Creativity.  It helps us realize and recognize new alternatives and uncharted paths along the way. Strength. ...

New year prayer

Καλημέρα, Δ, παρακαλώ, προσευχηθείτε μαζί μου. Having left the time of rest, I awake in the joy of a new year, I do not know what will be of the new day, That between lights and shadows I will live. Perhaps bitter and thirsty desert hours may lie ahead; But I know that if Christ comes on the way, My faith will not fail. If Christ comes on the way, My thirst will be quenched. O Lord grant me to live this year, In peace with my brothers and sisters; and that I may love you in the people that I will cross paths in this year. I go with you now, Mother Mary, And in your intercession I am confident For sheltered in you, my soul will come back safely. Sweet Mother, do not go away, Do not look away from me; Come with me everywhere And never just leave me. And since you love me so much As a true Mother, Make it so that I am blessed by: The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen
